Because I can only handle about 10 consecutive minutes on Westlaw, I spent a lot of time this afternoon catching up on Katrina stuff. I'm heartened (is that, um, a word?) that the general response to Bush is "you're a big fat poo head that's telling big fat lies and suck," even on the FoxNews.com site. I mean, not by the "news" people there, of course (they're busy debunking the environmentalists instead of talking about FEMA and Bush and such), but the people who watch it. You know.
One of the judge's at court today, while we were hanging out in his chambers, compared what's happening in New Orleans to the Titanic: not much plan for the steerage class. So the poor continue to die (generally the poor black people, since it's an urban area and it's the south) or huddle beneath the torn roof of whichever dome it is that they're in, and G.W. "Democracy, Liberty, Safety" Bush didn't think the levee would break? Uh huh.
TalkLeft has pretty much the best rundown, link list, though I'm sure you've all seen or heard it elsewhere.
It's sort of surreal to see the video and pictures. It's shameful to hear the politicians thanking each other (woot Anderson Cooper), or talking about Trent Lott's house, or saying that they didn't see it coming. I could've sworn that we were the most advanced, "superior" nation in the world. I could've sworn that we were the last superpower. Don't seem so super now, and people are dying.
Anyway. I'm sure I'm echoing everyone else, liberal or otherwise. Recorded for posterity.
